The documents people most need help with are the ones they least want to hand to a stranger: a benefits application, a tenancy agreement, a medical intake form, a tax schedule. The usual answer online is to upload it to a server, wait, and take a privacy policy on faith.
Browsers stopped needing that some years ago. They can parse a PDF, render it, rewrite it and encrypt it without help. Novus PDF Studio is what happens when you take that seriously: twelve focused tools and a fill-and-sign editor, all running in the tab, with no upload step to worry about.
Processing on your device is the architecture rather than a setting. It removes an entire category of question — what happens to my file, how long is it kept, who can read it — by removing the upload. It also constrains what we can build: anything requiring a server is something we will not ship, and that trade is deliberate.
There is no sign-up, no export cap, no watermark and no paid tier that unlocks the useful part. The site is funded by advertising, which is the honest version of free — you are not the product, but you do see ads.
Erasing covers rather than deletes. Permission flags depend on the reader honouring them. Scanned images carry no text to detect. Every one of those is documented in the places someone would meet it, because a tool that overstates itself costs its user more than one that admits a gap.
